Makinde Discusses Oyo's Next Governor at Ramadan Lecture

During the 12th Omituntun Annual Ramadan Public Lecture held at the Agodi Gate Motor Park in Ibadan, Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, revealed his perspective on how the next governor will emerge ahead of the 2027 governorship elections. He stressed that the state will not revert to the era of political violence and urged citizens to maintain peace and pray for the government.

Makinde highlighted his administration's achievements, including the payment of ₦25 billion to clear outstanding gratuities inherited from previous administrations. He noted that monthly gratuity payments have increased from ₦1 billion to ₦3 billion to ensure no retiree is left behind.

Additionally, he mentioned the upgrade of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport to international status as a significant milestone and expressed optimism about the airlift of Hajj pilgrims in May 2026.
