NPFL Lifts Ban on Coach Kennedy Boboye Before Season Start

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has suspended the 17-game touchline ban imposed on Bendel Insurance head coach Kennedy Boboye, enabling his return to the dugout just days before the 2026/27 season begins. Boboye received the ban in March after being accused of assaulting match officials following a match against Plateau United during the 2025/26 season.

Despite denying the allegations, he missed the last six games of that season due to the suspension. The NPFL reviewed his case after receiving a letter of apology and an appeal for leniency from the club.

The board acknowledged Boboye's good conduct during the sanction period and his past contributions to Nigerian football as a player and coach. Consequently, the remaining period of his ban has been suspended, with a warning that any similar conduct in the next season would result in the punishment being enforced.

Boboye is set to lead Bendel Insurance in their opening match against Warri Wolves on August 30.
