NRC Increases Abuja-Kaduna Train Trips Effective March 6

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) announced an increase in the number of train trips along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor to accommodate growing passenger demand. This adjustment will take effect on March 6, as disclosed in a statement by Callistus Unyimadu, the Chief Public Relations Officer of NRC.

The revised timetable aims to provide commuters with better travel options and enhance operational flexibility. The Abuja-Kaduna route had previously experienced operational disruptions due to a bomb blast on March 28, 2022, and a derailment on August 26, 2025, which led to a reduction in rolling stock and the introduction of temporary speed restrictions for safety.

The new schedule will include three trips on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and two trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Specific departure times from Idu to Rigasa are set for 8:45 AM and return at 2:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while Friday to Sunday trips will depart at 7:45 AM and 3:15 PM.

NRC reaffirmed its commitment to improving capacity, reliability, safety, and overall passenger experience across its rail network.
