Rugby Clinic Enhances Grassroots Development in Lagos

On a recent date, the Nigeria Rugby League (NRLA) and the Australian High Commission conducted a rugby clinic at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, targeting 100 schools across Lagos. This initiative, part of a broader effort to deepen grassroots participation and strengthen the sport's profile in Nigeria, involved collaboration with the Lagos State Sports Commission and the Lagos State Rugby Association.

The clinic aimed to improve students' understanding of rugby and included the distribution of rugby balls, boots, and jerseys to encourage ongoing engagement. Adebisi, Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Rugby League and Chairman of the Lagos State Rugby Association, described the initiative as a strategic step to expand the sport's reach within the school system.

The partnership is designed to elevate existing structures, with a focus on female participation, which is a key area of development. The clinic is part of a series of activities leading up to international fixtures involving Nigeria's national team, the Green Falcons.
