NRS and CITN Collaborate to Boost Tax Education in Nigeria

The Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation Nigeria (CITN) have deepened their collaboration to promote tax education and voluntary compliance in Nigeria. This initiative was announced during the maiden edition of the National Tax Awareness Day held in 2026, which assessed the progress of tax reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu in 2025.

The event featured various activities aimed at enhancing public understanding of tax laws and encouraging compliance. CITN President Innoc Ohagwa and NRS Executive Chairman Zacch Adedeji emphasized the importance of tax education in building a sustainable revenue system.

They noted that the collaboration aims to institutionalize tax awareness nationwide, with activities including media engagement, tax clinics, and community outreach programs. The NRS has set an ambitious revenue target of ₦40.7 trillion for 2026, focusing on improving compliance and leveraging technology to enhance service delivery.
