NRS and CITN Promote Voluntary Tax Compliance in FCT

The Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation Nigeria (CITN) organized a sensitization campaign for residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to promote voluntary tax compliance. This initiative is part of the activities marking the 2026 National Tax Awareness Day.

The campaign features a series of nationwide activities designed to enhance taxpayer education and encourage voluntary compliance, thereby deepening public understanding of Nigeria's tax laws. The theme for this year's Tax Awareness Day is "Tax for National Growth and Reform: Compliance for Shared Prosperity." Mohan Abubakar, Executive Chairman of NRS, commended CITN for institutionalizing National Tax Awareness Day and mobilizing district societies nationwide.

Innoc Ohagwa, President of CITN, emphasized that voluntary compliance is essential for building and sustaining a tax system that supports national growth and shared prosperity. The outreach program aims to improve tax literacy and strengthen the culture of compliance across the country.
