NRS Sets July 31 Deadline for E-Invoicing Compliance

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has announced a deadline of July 31, 2026, for large taxpayers to fully migrate to its electronic invoicing system. Dr.

Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of NRS, emphasized that failure to comply by this date will lead to regulatory sanctions. This directive is part of a broader implementation framework for the electronic fiscal system, which aims to improve transparency and strengthen tax compliance while reducing revenue leakage.

The NRS has already begun monitoring compliance levels among affected companies, warning that businesses that do not complete the migration will face enforcement actions under existing tax laws. Mr.

Dare Adekambi, the NRS Chairman, reiterated the importance of this notice, which reinforces an earlier announcement made on February 17, 2026. The electronic invoicing system is mandatory for companies with an annual gross turnover of N5 billion and above, with over 1,000 companies reportedly compliant in the first quarter of the year.
