NSACC Urges Calm Amid Xenophobic Unrest in South Africa

The Nigeria South Africa Chamber of Commerce (NSACC) issued a statement on Tuesday, expressing concern over the recent xenophobic unrest in South Africa. Jidenma, the part chairman of the chamber, emphasized the need for calm and dialogue to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and South Africa.

The unrest has significantly affected the Nigerian community and their businesses, impacting their livelihoods. Jidenma urged government officials, community leaders, civil society organizations, and citizens to prioritize peace and uphold the rule of law to ensure the safety of residents, regardless of nationality.

The NSACC chairman also called for continued collaboration between Nigerian and South African authorities to address the root causes of the unrest and prevent further escalation. The federal government has already taken steps to address the situation, including diplomatic engagement and legislative action.

The chamber remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at strengthening economic unity between the two countries.
