Bukola Olopade, the new Director General of the NSC, described Onigbinde as a monumental figure whose legacy will endure in the realm of Nigerian football. Onigbinde led Nigeria in the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in Japan and South Korea and dedicated five decades to advancing football in Nigeria through coaching, mentorship, and technical leadership.
