Tinubu Mourns Former Super Eagles Coach Onigbinde

President Bola Tinubu reacted to the death of High Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, a renowned football administrator and former head coach of the Super Eagles, who passed away on Monday at the age of 88. In a statement, President Tinubu extended his sympathies to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the National Sports Commission (NSC), and Onigbinde's family, colleagues, and fans.

He highlighted Onigbinde's distinguished role as the first indigenous coach of the Super Eagles in 1982 and praised his contributions to the development of grassroots football in Nigeria. Tinubu noted Onigbinde's historical leadership, particularly his guidance of the Super Eagles to the Africa Cup of Nations final in 1984.

The president emphasized that Onigbinde would be remembered for his discipline, integrity, foresight, and passion for the beautiful game, and he prayed for comfort for the bereaved family.
