NSCDC Arrests 13 Suspects, Recovers ₦350m Stolen Cables

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested 13 suspects connected to crimes such as cable vandalism, armed robbery, car theft, and human trafficking across seven states, recovering stolen electrical infrastructure worth over ₦350 million. The arrests were executed by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) following intelligence-driven operations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, Niger, and Kaduna states.

Assistant Commandant Babawale Afolabi announced these developments during a press parade at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja. A significant arrest was that of 25-year-old Isaac Zegbe, a former employee of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), who allegedly vandalized over 15 kilometers of aluminum conductors.

The operations also led to the dismantling of a four-man syndicate involved in Toyota vehicle theft and the apprehension of an armed robbery gang, with an AK-47 and ammunition recovered. Additionally, a human trafficking case was addressed, resulting in the recovery of a trafficked child.
