NSCDC Dismisses 79 Officers, Arrests 12 for Arms Trafficking

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has undertaken significant internal disciplinary actions, dismissing 79 personnel for various professional misconducts and arresting 12 suspects linked to illegal arms dealing and vandalism. Commandant General Professor Ahmed Audi announced these measures, emphasizing the NSCDC's commitment to accountability and national asset protection amid increasing security challenges.

The disciplinary actions involved 75 personnel, including one Assistant Commandant General, two Deputy Commandants, 35 senior officers, and 37 junior officers, with offences ranging from job racketeering to absenteeism. Sanctions included dismissals, compulsory retirements, and recommendations for criminal prosecution.

Notably, two officers were implicated in the February 18, 2026 incident in Nasarawa State, leading to the death of NSCDC Mining Marshals Commander Levi Agada. Additionally, four officers are under separate proceedings for illegal arms dealing.

The Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad also arrested nine suspects across multiple states for firearms trafficking.
