NSCDC Rescues 24 from Illegal Camp in Lagos

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) conducted an operation in Badagry, Lagos State, where they discovered an illegal detention camp. This operation led to the rescue of 24 victims, comprising 18 males and six females, including a toddler.

Four suspects were arrested, believed to be members of a cross-border criminal syndicate operating between Nigeria, Togo, Benin Republic, and Ghana. The operation was disclosed by NSCDC spokesperson Adedotun Keshinro, who stated that it was based on credible intelligence gathered from community engagement.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the victims had been missing for periods ranging from three months to three years, with the suspects allegedly luring them to the camp under false pretenses. Victims were reportedly forced into criminal activities, including fraud and drug trade.

The NSCDC has appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the rescued victims and plans to prosecute the suspects upon conclusion of the investigation.
