NSCDC Arrests Togolese Army Deserters and Vandals in Lagos

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Lagos State Command arrested two suspects identified as Togolese army deserters and cable vandals. The arrests were made following intelligence gathered from the community and private security stakeholders.
Oluwaseun Abolurin, the NSCDC public relations officer, confirmed that the two deserters were apprehended at the command headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja. The suspects, aged 27, were involved in cable vandalism in the Ajah area, where they allegedly vandalized armored cables.
They were reportedly paid N150,000 for transportation of the cables. Additionally, on June 15, NSCDC arrested another suspect for the theft of eight lithium batteries on Orchid Road, Lekki, following a separate intelligence-led operation.
The investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be handed over to the appropriate security agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.
