NSCDC Seeks Collaboration with NIPR for Public Awareness

Dennis Reuben, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for Rivers State, stated that a stronger collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) would enhance public understanding of the Corps' roles in security, peace, and conflict resolution. He made these remarks during a courtesy visit from the NIPR executive council in Port Harcourt City.

Reuben highlighted that public relations is essential for fostering goodwill and strengthening relationships between security agencies and the public. He pointed out that many people are unaware of the NSCDC's mandate in peace and conflict resolution, underscoring the necessity for increased public awareness to promote the use of their services.

Dr Parry Benson, the Vice Chairman of NIPR Rivers State Chapter, represented the Chairman during the visit and advocated for the NSCDC to allow its Public Relations officers to join the institute for professional training. He also invited Reuben to the World Public Relations Conference in Abuja in November 2026 and the Rivers Public Relations Week scheduled for October 7–9, 2026.
