NSCDC Enhances Security with Intelligence-Led Operations

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has undergone significant transformation under the leadership of Hon (Dr) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and Commandant General Abubakar Audi. This shift has been marked by intelligence-led operations that address less publicized crimes such as infrastructure vandalism, illegal mining, and arms manufacturing.

Recent actions include dismantling a syndicate involved in stealing electricity and telecommunications cables in the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding areas. The NSCDC's strategy now focuses on arresting major buyers of stolen materials, as evidenced by the sealing of Inner Galaxy Steel Company and Jiuxing Integrity Industrial Ltd for allegedly processing vandalized infrastructure.

Additionally, the discovery of a local arms manufacturing factory in Yobe State and the arrest of kidnapping suspects in Kano and Edo highlight the need for enhanced intelligence sharing among security agencies. The interception of counterfeit currency in Kano further underscores the complexities of modern criminal networks in Nigeria.
