NSIB Investigates Fatal Boat Accident in Benue State

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has commenced an investigation into a boat accident in Benue State that resulted in the loss of 11 lives. The investigation was announced in a statement released on Thursday, signed by Funk Adebayo Arowojob, Director of Public Affairs.

A team led by Captain Alex Badeh Jr., the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NSIB, conducted a safety assessment visit to Wadata along the River Benue on Wednesday. This visit is part of the bureau's efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and to gather firsthand information from the affected community.

Governor Hyacinth Alia commended NSIB for its swift response and called for stronger safety advocacy and risk reduction initiatives along the River Benue. Captain Badeh reaffirmed the bureau's commitment to collaborating with the state government and local communities to improve transport safety nationwide.

He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized the need for greater compliance with safety measures to prevent future accidents.
