NSIB Investigates Benue Boat Accident That Killed 11

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has commenced an investigation following a tragic boat accident in Benue State that claimed the lives of 11 people. The investigation team, led by Captain Alex Badeh Jr., conducted a safety assessment visit to Wadata along the River Benue.

This visit, which took place on a Wednesday, was part of the bureau's efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and to gather firsthand information from affected communities. NSIB's Director of Public Affairs, Mr.

Funk Adebayo Arowojob, stated that the bureau is committed to strengthening safety measures on Nigeria's inland waterways. Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia commended the bureau for its swift response and called for stronger, sustained NSIB presence in the state to support safety advocacy and risk reduction initiatives.

During a media briefing, Badeh expressed condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized the need for greater compliance with safety measures to prevent future accidents.
