NUJ FCT Urges SOPTCAM Executives to Innovate Standards

Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council, addressed the newly inaugurated executive of the Society of Practicing Television Cameramen (SOPTCAM), FCT Chapter, during their inauguration on Saturday in Abuja. She emphasized the importance of professional training, embracing emerging technologies, and strengthening ethical standards in broadcast journalism.

Ike congratulated the new leadership and expressed NUJ FCT's commitment to support workshops and digital upskilling initiatives. Newly elected chairman Mr.

Ekundayo Femi described the inauguration as a historic milestone, marking the first democratically elected executive committee of SOPTCAM in the Federal Capital Territory. He presented a six-point agenda focusing on professional growth, welfare, discipline, unity, transparency, and visibility.

National Chairman Comrade Olugbenga Adejuwon encouraged members to treat their craft seriously, build professional identities, and prioritize storytelling that reflects Nigeria's realities.
