NUPENG Suspends Strike After Agreement With Dangote Refinery Amid Labor Dispute

The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has called off a strike against Dangote Refinery after reaching an agreement following intervention by the Nigerian government. The industrial action was triggered by allegations of anti-union practices at the refinery.

Representatives from NUPENG and Dangote Refinery signed a Memorandum of Understanding to resolve the dispute within two weeks. The agreement aims to address the concerns raised by the union regarding labor practices at the refinery.

This resolution comes after initial plans for a strike due to increased petrol prices at the private depot owned by Dangote.
