MWUN Warns NUPENG Against Disrupting Nigeria Over Dangote Refinery Dispute

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has cautioned the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) against destabilizing the country over a dispute involving the Dangote Refinery. NUPENG accused Dangote of pressuring a driver to renounce union membership, leading to threats of halting fuel loading nationwide from September 8.

The MWUN President, George Priye West, labeled NUPENG's claims as unfounded and risky, urging the government to prevent any potential strike that could disrupt petroleum supply. The MWUN defended Dangote's refinery project as crucial for Nigeria's economy and criticized NUPENG's threats amid the country's economic challenges.

They emphasized the need for security agencies to intervene and prevent any actions that could harm national interests.
