NUPENG Slams Dangote Fuel Scheme as "Greek Gift" to Crush Competitors

NUPENG has criticized Dangote Group's fuel distribution scheme as a "Greek Gift" aimed at crushing competitors. The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers accused Dangote of using the initiative to undermine competitors and unionized workers.

The scheme, offering free fuel distribution, was seen as a deceptive move to dominate the downstream sector. Despite Dangote's reduction in petrol retail prices, NUPENG warned Nigerians not to be deceived by the apparent benevolence, highlighting the impact on independent operators and union members.

The union raised concerns about the conglomerate's approach, alleging it was designed to marginalize unionized workers and restrict opportunities for independent operators.
