NUPENG to Elect Salimon Oladiti as New President April 24

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) is preparing to elect Salimon Akanni Oladiti as its new president on April 24, as the tenure of the current president, William Akporeha, comes to an end. Akporeha announced his exit date during a quarterly national executive council meeting of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) branch held in Warri, Delta State.

This election marks a historic milestone, as it will be the first time a member of the PTD branch ascends to the presidency of NUPENG. Zonal chairman of the PTD in Port Harcourt, Joseph Okafor, moved a motion to unanimously ratify Oladiti's position, which was seconded by Adekunl Akinlaja from the Lagos zone.

In his valedictory remarks, Akporeha expressed appreciation for the steadfast support from PTD members throughout his eight-year tenure and urged them to extend the same level of support to Oladiti. Akporeha emphasized the importance of unity and growth within the union.
