NUPRC Announces 19 Gazetted Regulations and 10 Under Development

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has gazetted 19 regulations and is in the process of developing an additional 10 regulations for the upstream petroleum sector. This announcement was made by Senior Regulatory Officer, Regulations and Special Investigations, Mrs Emmanuella Senlong, during a presentation at a two-day National Workshop on the Electricity Act 2023 (as amended) held at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Senlong stated that the NUPRC has also issued 25 operational guidelines covering critical areas across the upstream value chain. She emphasized that establishing legal frameworks is just the beginning, and true success depends on closing the implementation gap through demonstrable statutory compliance.
To achieve this, the commission is addressing legacy challenges and implementing standardized reporting templates, risk-based inspection protocols, and auditable yearly compliance assessments. The workshop, organized by Allstates Management Partners Solutions Limited in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President, aimed to empower states in reviewing the Electricity Act 2023.
