NUPRC Signs Seismic License for Offshore Exploration

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has advanced offshore exploration by signing a petroleum exploration license agreement, known as License No. 5, with Seasei Geophysics Limited. This partnership, formalized at the Commission's headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, involves a three-year deal for the acquisition of new 3D seismic gravity data.

The project will cover an area of 11,700 square kilometers in the eastern Niger Delta, spanning water depths between 400 and 2,800 meters. The NUPRC expects this initiative to deepen subsurface understanding across the vast offshore acreage and provide high-quality data to guide future exploration investment decisions.

A statement issued by the Commission's head of corporate communications, Eniola Akinkuotu, highlighted the significance of this agreement in bolstering Nigeria's offshore exploration capabilities.
