NUPRC Signs 3-Year Seismic Deal to Boost Oil Exploration

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) signed a three-year agreement with Seasei Geophysics Limited to undertake the acquisition of new 3D seismic gravity data. This agreement, signed at the NUPRC headquarters in Abuja, covers an area of 11,700 square kilometers in the Eastern Niger Delta, with water depths ranging from 400 to 2,800 meters.

The initiative aims to deepen subsurface understanding and provide high-quality data to guide future exploration and investment decisions. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, the Chief Executive of NUPRC, highlighted the importance of data-driven exploration for long-term value creation in Nigeria's oil and gas sector.

Goke Adeniyi, Managing Director of Seasei Geophysics Limited, noted that this project is the company's largest in Africa and emphasized the scale of opportunities within Nigeria's upstream sector. The agreement is expected to unlock stronger prospects and enhance subsurface understanding, supporting efficient development of Nigeria's hydrocarbon resources.
