PENGASSAN and NUPRC Collaborate for Oil Production Goals

On August 26, 2026, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro, the new President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), visited the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) headquarters in Abuja. He expressed PENGASSAN's commitment to collaborate with NUPRC to achieve Nigeria's ambitious target of producing 3 million barrels of oil per day by 2030, as outlined by President Bola Tinubu's administration.

Olabiyi-Agoro emphasized the importance of collective effort in reaching this goal and assured that PENGASSAN would engage in reasonable negotiations. However, he stated that the rights of workers to freely associate and join the union are non-negotiable.

Additionally, he highlighted that addressing issues related to contract staffing would be a priority for his administration. Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, the Chief Executive of NUPRC, noted that the Federal Government is actively working to enhance oil production, supported by a recent executive order aimed at attracting deep offshore investments.
