Taraba Nursing Students Demand Better Security After Rape

On Monday, students from the Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences protested in Jalingo, Taraba State, in response to an alleged attack on a female hostel outside the college. The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, where a student was raped and injured, with reports indicating that one of her fingers was cut off during the assault.

The victim was taken to GSCN Hospital in the Mile 6 area of Jalingo for medical treatment. The attack raised significant concerns among students, particularly regarding the security of accommodation facilities outside the main campus.

In light of the incident, hundreds of students participated in a peaceful protest, demanding immediate action from the college management, state government, and security agencies to enhance security measures around the affected hostels, including improved surveillance and deterrents against criminal activities.
