Trabzonspor Sets €40M Price Tag for Defender Nwaiwu

Chibuik Nwaiwu, a 22-year-old defender currently with Trabzonspor, has been assigned a €40 million price tag as the club seeks to sell him. Trabzonspor has already turned down an offer of around €20 million from Dik Futbol Club.

The club's management is firm on their asking price, which is double the initial offer, and would surpass the existing record transfer fee of €27.5 million received from the sale of goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir to Galatasaray last season. Nwaiwu joined Trabzonspor from Nigerian side Enyimba for €5.5 million and quickly established himself as a regular in the first team, playing a key role in the club's Super Lig title challenge during the second half of the season.

His versatility allows him to operate across central defense and defensive midfield, drawing attention from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen and Premier League side Fulham. Despite the interest, Trabzonspor is in a strong negotiating position, as Nwaiwu has four years remaining on his contract and has not indicated a desire to leave the club.
