NWDC MD/CEO Engages Board Subcommittee in Kano Visit

On August 27, 2026, Professor Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Northwest Development Commission (NWDC), welcomed members of the Board Subcommittee on Establishment, Governance, and Human Resources during their inaugural oversight visit to the Commission in Kano. This meeting was the first joint engagement aimed at aligning on key institutional requirements for the effective commencement of the Commission’s mandate across the seven Northwest states: Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara.

Professor Ma’aji expressed appreciation for the subcommittee's commitment, highlighting the critical nature of their oversight function at this foundational stage. He identified personnel and human resources as key areas needing guidance, stressing the importance of a competent workforce.

Additionally, he pointed out the necessity of adequate office accommodation and workspace for efficient staff performance. The subcommittee is tasked with reviewing NWDC’s proposals and providing recommendations to strengthen the Commission’s institutional and human resource framework.
