Emeka Nwokolo Eyes Title Defense After Knockout Win

Emeka Nwokolo, known as “Lion Heart 7o7,” is targeting a defense of his WBA-NABA super welterweight title following a decisive technical knockout victory over British boxer Darren Hamilton on June 26 at the Motor City Casino in Detroit, Michigan. This fight marked Nwokolo's return from a year-long injury layoff, and he improved his professional record to 17 wins and 1 loss, with 14 KOs.

Nwokolo knocked Hamilton down twice in the third round, with the fight ending at 53 seconds into the round. He expressed his eagerness to defend his title, noting the difficulty in finding opponents willing to face him.

Nwokolo's last fight prior to this was in July 2025, where he retained his title against Jose Luis Sanchez. He is a five-belt champion, holding titles from WBF, UBO, and the American Boxing Federation, and is the only Nigerian in the WBA’s top 15 at 154 pounds.
