Anambra State Inaugurates 2027 Budget Committee

The Anambra State Government inaugurated the 2027 Budget Committee on Friday, with Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Chukwukadibia Okoye, leading the event at the Inter-Agency Board Room of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka. Okoye charged the committee members to ensure that the budget process is characterized by transparency, fiscal discipline, and evidence-based project selection.

He emphasized the importance of the budget as a tool for translating government policies into tangible outcomes, urging members to focus on the genuine needs of residents. Key directives included prioritizing early budget preparation, effective synergy among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and ensuring accurate costing and realistic projections.

The Permanent Secretary, Chinyere Nwabachili, presented the 2027 budget calendar, outlining the process from community submissions to legislative approval. The ministry committed to supporting the committee in producing a budget that reflects the aspirations of Anambra State residents.
