NYSC's Olakunle Nafiu Promotes Agribusiness for Youth

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), urged Corps Members to take advantage of their service year by exploring agribusiness opportunities. This statement was made in Abuja during a cheque presentation to six winners of the Farmers for the Future Programme, organized by the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATNF) in collaboration with the NYSC.

The winners received varying amounts, with Dominic Olufemi receiving N3 million, while Temitope Adewole, Abdulwaheed Bala, Olanike Mayungbe, Kingsley Udoeyen, and Lorember Lorsue received N2 million, N2 million, N1 million, N1 million, and N1 million, respectively. General Nafiu praised BATNF for its commitment to youth entrepreneurship and emphasized the significance of value addition in business sustainability.

Mrs Winifred Shopeka, Acting Director of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, noted that nearly 3,000 Corps Members applied for the program, which included a rigorous selection process. Mr Oludare Odusanya, Team Lead of BATNF, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration and encouraged Corps Members to acquire essential skills for success in agribusiness.
