NYSC Relocates Kwara, Kaduna Camps Over Security Threats

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the relocation of its orientation camps in Kwara and Kaduna states due to heightened security concerns. This decision is part of efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of corps members, particularly in light of threats from banditry and kidnappings in rural areas.

The NYSC emphasized its commitment to protecting corps members and noted that it has spent N500 million on urgent medical interventions nationwide over the last five years. The relocation comes as the 2026 Batch Stream 1 orientation exercise is set to commence, with parents and teacher associations advocating for safer urban locations for camps.

The NYSC also addressed recent controversies regarding ransom clauses, clarifying that there are no provisions for such clauses in its operations. The organization reassured stakeholders of its dedication to the welfare of corps members, including extending life insurance coverage for an additional three weeks after service completion.
