Oando Advocates Partnerships for Africa's Upstream Growth

During the African Oil Week (AOW) 2026 in Accra, Ghana, Oando Energy Resources, the upstream subsidiary of Oando Plc, advocated for stronger partnerships among governments, regulators, operators, and host communities to unlock investment and promote sustainable growth in Africa's upstream oil sector. Kofo Olagunju, General Manager of Security, Government & External Relations, participated in a panel discussion titled “Building Dialogue, Leadership: Exploring the Challenges of Both Government and Private Sector Frameworks for Upstream Development.” He was joined by Cany Jobe, Director General of the Petroleum Commission of The Gambia; Innocent Kihika, Board Member of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda; Joe Kofi Mensah, Senior Vice President & Head of Ghana Business Unit at Kosmos Energy; and Liz Ross, GM of New Ventures Exploration & M&A at CNOOC International.

Olagunju stressed the importance of evolving the relationship between regulators and operators into a constructive partnership, highlighting the critical role of host communities in the success of upstream operations.
