Oando Launches 12-Month Drilling Training for Youth

Oando Energy Resources Nigeria Limited (OERNL), a subsidiary of Oando Plc, initiated a 12-month drilling engineering training program for young Nigerians on September 4, 2026, in Port Harcourt. This program, developed in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Hilong Oil Service & Engineering Nigeria Limited, aims to equip participants with specialized drilling skills and practical experience.

The training combines classroom instruction with structured on-the-job training, covering areas such as Basic Drilling Engineering Operations, Well Planning and Design, Measurement While Drilling (MWD), and Logging While Drilling (LWD). Deji Agboola, Manager of the Nigerian Content Division at OERNL, emphasized the opportunity for participants to contribute to Nigeria's oil and gas industry.

The program is linked to actual oilfield operations, specifically the Obiafu 44 well, ensuring practical industry exposure. OERNL aims to develop a pipeline of Nigerian technical professionals to support the industry's sustainable operation as indigenous companies take on greater ownership.
