Oando Discusses Gas-to-Power Growth with Minister Tegbe

Oando Energy Resources (OER), a subsidiary of Oando PLC, recently met with Nigeria's Minister of Power, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, to discuss the company's role in enhancing the nation's gas-to-power initiatives. The meeting included senior representatives from OER's upstream division and officials from the Ministry, focusing on the partnership between the private sector and government to address Nigeria's energy challenges.

Dr. Ainojie ‘Alex’ Irune, Managing Director of OER, highlighted the company's significant gas assets and its Independent Power Plant, Okpai, which supplies electricity to 50 million Nigerians and accounts for approximately 15% of the national power supply.

Irune stressed that domestic capacity is essential for economic recovery and that investment in infrastructure is crucial for industrialization. The Minister acknowledged the discussions as a valuable opportunity to align government policy with private sector capabilities, emphasizing the importance of gas-to-power delivery in Nigeria's industrialization agenda.
