Oando Workshop Advances Biodegradable Solutions for Plastics

Oando Clean Energy Limited (OCEL), a subsidiary of Oando PLC, organized a workshop in Abuja aimed at advancing biodegradable technology solutions for single-use plastics in Nigeria. The event, which involved key stakeholders including the Federal Ministry of Environment, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and various industry players, addressed the pressing issue of plastic waste leakage.

Mallam Balarabe Lawal, the Minister of Environment, highlighted the severe impacts of plastic pollution on agriculture and livestock health. Andrew Webster, Chief Strategy Officer at Polymateria, presented a proprietary biotransform technology suitable for Nigeria's climate, which facilitates the breakdown of plastics into biodegradable materials.

Dr. Bahijjahtu Abubakar, Director of Pollution Control at the Ministry, emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to implement effective frameworks.

Hadiza Adukonu, Vice President of OCEL, encouraged ongoing dialogue to ensure sustainable progress in addressing plastic pollution and supporting economic growth.
