OAU Medical Students Provide Free Healthcare in Osun

Medical students from Obafemi Awolowo University, under the IFUMSA Health Awareness Club, delivered free medical and surgical services to more than 200 residents of Moro Community in Osun State. This annual outreach, organized by the Obafemi Awolowo University Medical Students’ Association, aimed to enhance access to basic healthcare in underserved communities.
Approximately 90 medical, dental, and pharmacy students participated, supported by two surgeons and three perioperative nurses from the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex. Oladipupo Ayomipo, Chairperson of the Health Awareness Club, stated that the outreach was part of their commitment to societal contribution, addressing the high cost of healthcare in Nigeria.
Aboderin Oluwatobiloba, Local Organising Committee Chairperson, emphasized the initiative's goal of promoting equal access to healthcare regardless of economic status. Services included health screenings and surgical procedures, with beneficiaries expressing gratitude for the medical services provided.
This outreach builds on previous initiatives, including one in Ede, Osun State, in 2025.
