Opposition Leaders' Summit in Ibadan Addresses Unity

On April 25, 2023, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo chaired an opposition leaders' summit in Ibadan, Oyo State, aimed at fostering unity and coordination among various political parties. The summit, hosted by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, included notable figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The event focused on strategizing responses to Nigeria's socio-economic and security challenges. Other attendees included former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Labour Party's Lagos State governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhode-Vivour.

Key speakers included Chidi Odinkalu, Usman Bugaji, and Mike Igini, who discussed sustaining democracy and ensuring credible elections. The summit was seen as a crucial step towards building a credible alternative ahead of future elections.

Additionally, the African Democratic Congress alleged plans by the ruling APC to disrupt the summit, which was denied by the APC.
