Obasanjo Leads Opposition Summit in Ibadan for Unity

On April 25, 2023, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo chaired a significant opposition summit in Ibadan, Oyo State, which aimed to unite major opposition parties under the theme "May Work Together to Unite Opposition to Sustain Democracy." The summit was organized to forge a common front to tackle Nigeria's pressing socio-economic and security challenges and to strengthen democratic institutions. Key political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, were in attendance.

The event was hosted by Governor Seyi Makinde at the banquet hall of the government house. Notably, Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Public Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of plotting to disrupt the summit.

He stated that the APC's attempts to undermine the event would not deter the opposition's efforts to unite and address the issues facing Nigeria.
