Obasanjo and Tinubu Meet at Ogun Airport Amid Rivalry

On a notable occasion, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo appeared alongside current President Bola Tinubu at Ogun Airport, marking their fourth meeting since Tinubu's election in 2023. Their relationship has been historically contentious, but they exchanged pleasantries during this encounter.

Despite this public display, Obasanjo has declared his support for Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate, and has been critical of Tinubu's governance, labeling the administration as inefficient compared to that of former President Muhammadu Buhari. In his latest book, "Nigeria: Past and Future," Obasanjo described the current state of Nigeria as a "failed state," attributing this to pervasive corruption and mismanagement.

The meeting at Ogun Airport also featured a greeting between Tinubu and Chief Olusegun Osoba, another elder statesman. This event coincided with Obasanjo's 88th birthday celebrations, where he expressed gratitude for being invited to the inauguration of the airport by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
