Obi Critiques Tinubu's Solar Power Plan for Aso Rock

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's proposal to disconnect Aso Rock from the national grid and transition to solar power. Obi accused Tinubu of neglecting the national grid during his 32 months in office, failing to provide stable electricity despite promises made during the campaign.

He highlighted the struggles of Nigerians who have not seen the fulfillment of commitments regarding power supply. Obi described the government's plan to switch to solar power as a gross neglect and deeply worrisome, warning that it could exacerbate the ongoing power crisis.

He noted that the 2025 budget allocates 10 billion for solar power at Aso Rock, with a significant amount earmarked for upgrades and maintenance in the 2026 budget. Obi emphasized that the government should focus on strengthening and expanding the national grid instead of disconnecting from it, arguing that such actions reflect a lack of commitment to ordinary citizens.
