Obi Criticizes Tinubu for Lack of Communication on Abduction

Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and a presidential candidate, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has not contacted Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde regarding the abduction of 37 pupils and a teacher in Oriir Local Government Area on May 15. During a recent visit to Makinde in Ibadan, Obi expressed his shock at learning that the governor had not received a single call from the president following the incident.

Obi criticized the lack of communication as indicative of a broader failure in leadership at the highest levels of government. He drew comparisons to the 2014 Chibok schoolgirl abduction, noting that the current administration has faced 13 school kidnapping incidents without a demonstrable urgency in response.

Obi renewed his demand for Tinubu to either resign or reconsider seeking a second term in 2027, emphasizing that the safety of schoolchildren and teachers should be a national priority.
