Peter Obi Critiques Tinubu's Response to Oyo Abduction

Peter Obi, a presidential aspirant from the Nigeria Democratic Congress, stated that if he were Nigeria’s president, he would have entered the forest in Oyo State to secure the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire. During an interview on Afia TV’s Eastern Eye, aired on Thursday, he emphasized that he would have acted within two days, criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not contacting Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde during the over 50 days the victims were held captive.

Obi argued that effective leadership in addressing insecurity requires prompt action and personal responsibility. He recounted his experience as governor of Anambra State, where he tackled criminal activities in forests after consulting former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He insisted that security operations should be transparent, advocating for the public presentation of arrested suspects to build citizen confidence in security agencies. Obi maintained that decisive leadership is crucial, stating that one person must be in charge of security decisions.
