Obi-Kwankwaso Movement Launches for ADC 2027 Primaries

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement was officially announced in Abuja on Monday, signaling a strategic realignment within Nigeria's political landscape as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) prepares for the 2027 presidential primaries. Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso are at the forefront of this initiative, which aims to unify their respective support bases, the Obi-Datti Movement and Kwankwasiyya.

Justin Ijeh, the movement's national public secretary, emphasized that the coalition seeks to address Nigeria's economic and security challenges while promoting a broad-based alliance. The movement has already established structures across Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with zonal coordinators appointed to drive nationwide mobilization.

This development comes amid rising tensions within the ADC, particularly following the declaration of interest by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the party's presidential primaries. The Labour Party has distanced itself from a viral social media post urging Obi and Kwankwaso to return to its fold, labeling the message as fraudulent.
