Oborevwori Wins Double at Independent Newspaper Awards

At the Independent Newspaper's Silver Jubilee Awards held at Eko Hotel in Lagos, Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori was honored with two significant awards: the Outstanding Independent Governor of the Year and the Best Independent Governor for Urban Renewal 2025.

The event, themed "Game Changer: Breaking Barriers to Shape Tomorrow," marked the 25th anniversary of the media organization. Deputy Governor Sir Mondai Onyem highlighted that the awards reflect the visible transformation across Delta State since Oborevwori assumed office in 2023, particularly in urban renewal and infrastructure development.

The administration has completed 300 kilometers of road within a year, addressing long-standing infrastructural challenges. Steve Omanufem, Managing Director and Editor of the Independent Newspaper, noted that the winners emerged through a combination of public votes and a rigorous selection process by the jury.

The recognition is expected to inspire the administration to intensify efforts in delivering development projects and improving residents' welfare.
