Agbele-Asa Celebrates First Monarch After Long Wait

The agrarian border community of Agbele-Asa in Yewa North Local Government Area, Ogun State, celebrated the installation of its first monarch, Oba Rahmon Ajibade Abisekan, as the Alagbele of Agbele-Asa Kingdom (Ile Igbo I). The Ogun State government officially presented the staff of office and instrument of appointment during a ceremony held at the Local Government Primary School field in Asa.

This event concluded a decades-long quest for traditional and administrative recognition aimed at fostering infrastructural and socio-economic development in the community. The presentation was conducted by Dr Rotimi-Olu Akinlesi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, on behalf of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Community leaders, including 97-year-old Lana Akintan and Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun, expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for his support in creating the traditional stool. The event was also attended by Wahab Egungbohun, a lawmaker, who encouraged community loyalty to the All Progressives Congress for future elections.

Oba Kehinde Olugbenle welcomed Oba Abisekan into the Council of Yewa Traditional Rulers.
