Ogun children call for end to abuse, neglect, exploitation

Children in Ogun State are calling for an end to abuse, neglect, and exploitation in various forms across the state. During the 5th Children Parliament session at the State House Assembly, Farida Olushola highlighted the need to eradicate all forms of abuse to secure a better future for the country.

The children emphasized the importance of love, protection, and emotional support to ensure they grow into healthy adults. The Speaker, Rt Hon Ezekiel Olaoluwa, stressed the urgent need for the State Government and stakeholders to strengthen measures to prevent and eradicate child abuse.

The Children Parliament commended the state government for its proactive interventions but expressed deep concern over the rising cases of abuse. The State Assembly resolved to charge the government to implement comprehensive policies and enforcement mechanisms to prevent abuse and exploitation.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, emphasized the need for correction through love rather than corporal punishment, as child abuse must be stopped.
