Ogun CJ Urges Legal Professionals to Uphold Integrity

On Thursday, during the annual lecture of the Nigerian Bar Association's Sagamu branch held at Nanda Hotel in Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, the Chief Judge of Ogun State, called on lawyers and judges to maintain integrity and ethical standards in the legal profession. She warned that public confidence in the legal profession continues to decline due to compromised ethical values.

Dipeolu stated that integrity is a valuable currency in the justice system and that no amount of legislation can restore public trust once integrity is lost. She highlighted the challenges faced by legal practitioners today, including financial pressures and social media influences, urging young lawyers to value reputation over wealth.

Dipeolu cited legal icons like Chief Gani Fawehinmi and Justice Chukwudifu Oputa as examples of integrity in the judiciary. She stressed that judicial integrity extends beyond avoiding corruption and includes diligence, punctuality, and the ability to resist external pressures.
